Download Mothership Server

Two pieces: a server on one device that collects and displays everything, and a client on every device you want to watch.

1

Server — install on one device

Collects metrics from your clients, stores them, and serves the dashboard on port 8097. Pick the device that stays on.

🍎

macOS

native executable · no Python

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Mothership Server to a folder you will keep — the database is written next to the binary
  2. Run ./mothership-server — it is signed and notarized, so Gatekeeper lets it through
  3. Register each client: ./mothership-server register "My Laptop"
🐍

Windows · Linux · macOS

cross-platform source package

  1. Needs Python 3.11+
  2. pip install -r requirements.txt
  3. python3 run_server.py — prints the dashboard URL
  4. Register each client: python3 register_client.py "My Laptop"
  5. Want a single binary on Windows or Linux? Run the included build_server.bat / build_server.sh on that machine — PyInstaller cannot cross-compile
2

Clients — install on every device

Reports CPU, RAM, disk and top processes to the server. Each client needs the agent.conf that register printed in step 1.

Native App Rebuild pending
Use the current source package below
Native .exe unavailable
⚠️

The previous native build was retired because it still exposed OpenClaw service controls. Use the current full client ZIP below and run build.bat on Windows; a cleaned native build can then be uploaded here.

Current full client · recommended

Windows 11 is the primary native target. Unzip either file below — both contain the same tray app and a CRLF-safe build.bat — then with Python 3.11+: pip install pystray pillow psutil and python windows_tray.py

To build the native app, extract the ZIP first, then run build.bat. It creates build.log and pauses with a readable error if Python, dependencies, or PyInstaller fail.

Internal builds are unsigned. Windows may show Unknown Publisher; confirm this authenticated download is the expected file before choosing More info → Run anyway.

  1. Open Mac Metrics.dmg and drag Mac Metrics to Applications — no Python needed
  2. Launch it from Applications; the icon appears in the menubar
  3. The metrics server starts automatically; use the menubar icon for Start / Stop Metrics Server if you need manual control
  4. Enable Start server at next login in the menu
  5. Prefer to run from source? Grab the .zip instead — it needs Python 3.11+ and pip install pystray pillow psutil pyobjc-framework-Cocoa, then python mac_tray.py

Ubuntu / Linux

  1. Unzip the download to any folder
  2. Install GTK3 bindings:
    sudo apt install python3-gi gir1.2-gtk-3.0
  3. Optional — GNOME tray icon:
    sudo apt install gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1
  4. Run the installer (registers with GNOME):
    bash install.sh
  5. Search Mothership in Activities → pin to dock
  6. The metrics service starts automatically; right-click the tray icon for Start / Stop Server if you need manual control

Built a new client somewhere else — e.g. windows-metrics-tray.exe from build.bat on an actual Windows machine, since this server can't compile Windows binaries itself? Upload it here instead of copying it into the downloads folder by hand. Requires sign-in as the app owner.

① Server
Run the server on one device. It listens on :8097 and prints the address your clients should use.
② Register
On the server, register "device name" per client. It prints that client's agent.conf and ingest token.
③ Client
Install the tray app on each device, drop in its agent.conf, and it pushes metrics every 60s.
④ Monitor
RAM, storage, CPU, and uptime appear live in your dashboard.
